A Visionary, Dr.R.Vardarajan, founded the National Education Society(NES) on April 14, 1963 with the mission of providing school and college education to students of mostly middle and lower middle class families in the relatively underdeveloped suburb of Bhandup in Mumbai. Today forty eight years later, the N.E.S along with another trust, Saraswathi Vidya Bhavan (SVB) founded in 1983 are prominent landmarks in Bhandup, Dombivili and Mulund of Mumbai.
Ratnam College of Arts, Science and Commerce was founded by NES on 11th July 1983. Affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the college has grown rapidly in a short span of 28 years creating a niche for itself in the educational field of Mumbai. Catering to the needs of more than 2000 students, today the college is, in its ground plus three storeyed building, offering impressive number of career-oriented courses.
As the College celebrated its 28th year, the college had reached a milestone when the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), a body of UGC, accredited it with an 'A' Grade on Feb. 16th, 2004. This reiterated the ISO 9001:2000 certificate that the college received from the JAS-ANZ Australia as a recognition of its constant pursuit for quality education and excellence and conforming to world standard of education on April 14th, 2002. The fact that the college is working towards its vision has been confirmed when college has been reaccredited with an 'A' grade by NAAC in 2011.
