Extra Curricular Activities

To ensure holistic development of students a large number of intra mural and extra curricular activities are carried out and annual events organized. Annual Sports Meet and Annual Cultural Programme as well as Inter-Collegiate Competitions organized by the college provide tremendous exposure and multi-skilling to students. They are trained to organize functions independently under various clubs, associations and committees. Student office bearers and members conduct a host of events in the form of exhibitions, quiz and intercollegiate competitions annually.

  1. The College maintains an Annual Calendar for extra & co-curricular activities to ensure that they are conducted in a well planned manner.
  2. The College is popular for its intercollegiate festival which serves as a platform for networking & exhibition of 'students' talents vis-à-vis other colleges. the festivals are as follows :
    • MANTRA - By Cultural Forum
    • MANZIL - By BMS Society
    • ZEP By Marathi Dept.
    • PLASME by Physics Dept.
    • CHEM-ZONE By Chemistry Dept.
  3. The Cultural forum is a very active forum in the college which gives students a chance to exhibit their talents in the field of Literary, Performing & Fine Arts. It also focuses on values and culture by promoting contests based on themes.
  4. The Gymkhana committee of the college organizes various sporting competitions for students in Football, Cricket, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Badminton & also in athletic events
  5. The NCC unit for boys is a very active group which participates in activities like
    • Cleanliness Drive
    • District, State & National Level Camps
    • Security services during festivals, public elections & also traffic control during festivals.
  6. The College also has an active NSS (National Service Scheme) unit which conducts Society oriented programmes on a regular basis like
    • Organizing blood donation camps
    • Conducting Thalassemia minor check-up camps for students
    • Awareness program related to Aids, Cleanliness, Environment, Consumer Rights, Gender Justice, Communal Harmony etc.
  7. Ratnam is one of the two lead colleges in Extension Education Programme (EEP) in the University of Mumbai & conducts various activities to bring about holistic development of students like
    • Conducting Seminars, Surveys, Exhibitions, Street Plays etc. on topics like literacy, Status of Women etc.
    • Through projects on work experience the EEP volunteers gain experience of working in laboratories, library, college office & also in offices outside.
    • The EEP unit of our college has won numerous awards.
