The National Education Society(NES),our parent body, established in 1963 by Dr.R. Varadarajan has progressively grown into a sprawling education complex running 48 constituent institutions under the NES & SVB(a sister trust) banners. The institutions of her academic programmes ranging from pre-primary to post graduation level and professional colleges as well as an international school with Cambridge & I.B.Curriculum.

In 2002, NES was also the first education institution in Maharashtra to be accredited with the prestigious ISO 9001:2000 certificate for imparting quality education.

The Founder President Dr.R. Varadarajan has been conferred with, beside many other awards the National Award for the Best Principal, Seva Ratna Award, Messiah of Education and the IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award for excellence in education. The NES Ratnam College of Arts, Science & Commerce, permanently affiliated to University of Mumbai was founded on 11th July 1983. The college is re-accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ Grade. It is well known for its emphasis on academic excellence, 100% results at the final examinations, various co-curricural and extra-curricular activities buzzing all through the year on its campus. The college focuses on teaching and learning processes using innovative methods that cater to the needs of students particularly from lower middle class, most of whom are first generation learners. The college is the proud recipient of the British Quality Mark conferred by the British Institute of Learning Development, UK, which has honoured Dr. R.Varadarajan with British Fellowship
